About Voicelabs

Voicelabs builds AI phone assistants for SMEs. Our clients are dentists, estate agents, solicitors and other entrepreneurs who are too busy to answer every phone call.

We are a team of 6, bootstrapped and profitable. Our office is in The Hague. We work remote-first: one day per week in the office, the rest you decide yourself.

The role

You work together with our lead engineer on everything that makes the AI assistants better. That means: writing and testing prompts, building integrations with calendar and CRM systems, and improving the latency and naturalness of conversations.

We use Python, FastAPI, and work with models from OpenAI and ElevenLabs. You don't need to be an AI expert, but you must find it interesting to dive in.

What you'll do

• Write prompts and A/B test for better conversations
• Build integrations with Exact, Dentiva, Google Calendar and other tools
• Optimise latency (we aim for <500ms response time)
• Solve edge cases: what does the AI do when someone is angry, or asks an unusual question?
• Think along about new features and build them yourself

Who we're looking for

• 2+ years of experience with Python
• You have previously built backend systems (FastAPI, Django, or similar)
• You enjoy experimenting with LLMs and new AI tools
• You write code that others can read and maintain
• You communicate well in Dutch (clients speak Dutch)
